EKG Youth Heart Screenings

Protecting Young Hearts, Building Stronger Communities

At the Nick of Time Foundation, our mission is clear and urgent: to prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in children and young adults. Each year, thousands of young people die when their hearts suddenly stop beating without warning, but we believe these tragedies are preventable through awareness, education, and direct intervention. Our EKG youth heart screening program identifies those at risk before it’s too late, potentially saving lives that might otherwise be lost to this silent threat.

Our community-based approach brings together medical professionals and dedicated volunteers, creating a robust support network for young people across the region. Each screening event provides a comprehensive heart evaluation, including a medical history review and EKG screening. It may also include a heart sound physical and ECHO if needed, demonstrating our belief that protecting our children’s hearts is a responsibility we all share.

The impact of our work extends beyond detection to education and empowerment. Every student who participates receives a potentially life-saving screening and learns hands-on CPR and AED training, gaining critical skills to respond in emergencies. Through thousands of screenings, we’ve detected hundreds of heart abnormalities and helped identify dozens of young people at risk for SCA, ensuring they receive the medical care needed to live whole and healthy lives. At the Nick of Time Foundation, we’re committed to creating communities where every heartbeat counts.
